✨A raw inspiring story✨

In this fast-paced memoir, Elise Krentzel took charge of the tumultuous 1970's by making a name for herself as a rock journalist who toured Japan with Kiss. As a child, her parents encouraged her to sing, play music, and write but she wasn't allowed to be "herself". Alienated, she hid her heart and learned to become a stranger in her own skin as the torment of early childhood taught her to mistrust everyone, especially herself.

Here’s What People Say

Details of interest by Ace of Spades
While this book wasn’t what I thought it would be, it turned out to be something better. If you grew up in New York City in the 70’s and 80’s you will relate. If you liked the movie Almost Famous, this is Almost Famous on steroids. Looking forward to reading more from Ms. Krentzel. A highly recommended memoir.

Mind-blowing read! by EdiHB
I really enjoyed this book! I love a good memoir, and a friend of mine raved about this one, so I bought it and ended up reading it in two sittings. It just swept me along -- partly because of the era/setting (1960s and 70s in NYC), and partly because it's so unpredictable.

Sassy 70s girl gets to live her rock and roll dream by Lisa Levitus
Elise portrays herself as a wild child while always staying true to her desire to make something of herself. Nothing is left on the floor in this memoir. She lays herself bare and triumphs.. Remember, this is the 70s where women had to fight for every scrap. And she was only nineteen. This is the first of three. Can’t wait to read where the road takes her next.

Non-stop page turner! by Debbie Harris
I Ioved this book! There is so much to love here - great writing and amazing memoir of super wild adventures of a smart, independent rebellious teenage girl. Anyone growing up in the 60's and 70's will relate.

Wild ride through 70s rock-scape! by Andrew Edwards
This is a rocking good read about a rocking good time back when we partied in platform shoes. It’s both funny and principled at the same time. How does a kid from Long Island end up confounding the Japanese mafia? Read it and find out!

At 19 years old, the youngest journalist on the KISS Japan Tour, she negotiated a plum job with one of the most prominent players in the Japanese music industry, desperately trying to fill the gaping hole left by feeling unheard and unloved by those she depended on most: her family.Β

About the Author

Β

Elise Krentzel began writing and traveling the globe as a teenager. First published at 17 in rock magazines in the USA and Canada, she achieved many firsts after that. She introduced punk rock to the Japanese market, became the youngest Bureau Chief of Billboard Magazine in Tokyo, and became the first foreign DJ on FM Tokyo radio. She later founded a digital travel publishing company with GPS in the pre-internet days in Europe. She blogged before it was a "thing” and contributed to travel books, print, and digital magazines.

Elise runs EK Editorial & Coaching agency, ghostwrites, and coaches up-and-coming badass writers. Her greatest joy is her son and helping others discover their innate talents. Elise is currently working on book number two in her trilogy.
